then its because this is a free forum and they need ways to pay for the servers, by putting the google ads in everytime someone clicks on them PHPBB gets money from google...it is a good way to pay for ads, also alot of other "free forums" who claim to be free have loads and loads of pop ups that obscure the view of the page at least this way they are out of the way..
if that isnt what you ment then im not to sure what you did mean maybe screen shot it?
